How to choose skin care and other natural products, to promote better health

There are MANY options on the market that offer skin care, natural products, and health related products that aim to increase beautiful skin, healthy hormones, and longevity. Below are the ways I choose which to purchase.

Decide first what matters to YOU.

INGREDIENTS
Things to ask yourself:
• Can you read them?
• Do you know what each ingredient is?
• What do they offer?
If you’re unsure what an ingredient is, what it's used for, and any effects it may have on the body, look it up. By educating ourselves, we are better able to make conscious decisions that create the life we're moving towards.
• How long is the list?
Decide what may be too many for you and your body.
• Where are they sourced?
• Are they locally created/harvested?
• Are they organic? Non-toxic? All-natural?

PACKAGING
Does this matter to you?
• Glass or plastic?
• Clear or colored?
• Pretty aesthetic labels?

PURPOSE
What are you needing in a product? What assistance is your body asking for?
• Skin
• Health
• Hormones
• Sleep

Ask yourself what challenges are needed addressed?
• Dryness?
• Rashes?
• Inflammation?
• Balancing?

SCENTS
• Do you need something light or nothing at all?
• Looking for something noticeable?
• Do you prefer natural or synthetic?
Natural scents can come from whole plants infusions or essential oils. Fragrance oils are synthetic fragrances produce a stronger scent.

After finding the basis of what you're looking for in a product, next comes my favorite way of making a decision..
I find myself in a calm and balanced state. A state of being where I'm not easily swayed one direction or another. I ask my body what it needs and listen by hearing/feeling what first response I get.
I also pay attention to if my body feels expanding or contracting.
Expanding = YES!
Contracting = NO!

If you're like me, looking up a business, ingredients, and packaging are my first steps in choosing a product.
Next, is to try a product out. This is where purchasing samples or going to markets and visits the booths that have the products you're interested in. Being able to talk with the creator, ask questions, talk about your concerns, and sampling their products helps to make the decision easier.

For me, if the option of live interaction isn't available, listening to my body is what I use to determine what I purchase..
> Does the product make me feel expanded inside?
> Does the product excite me? (Light me up inside.)

It can really come down to listening to YOUR body and what it needs. Becoming quiet and undistracted so that your body can be heard.
